Seeking a Lab Scientist for a contract role located in Fort Collins, CO. Our client is an exciting startup operating on CSU Campus. In this individual contributor, lab-based role, the Lab Scientist will work independently to perform analytical testing in support of early-stage autologous immunotherapy cancer vaccine programs and new technology development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute experiments, determining appropriate methods and techniques to be used
- Plan and conduct molecular, biochemical, cell-based, and/or related assays (e.g., flow cytometry, Luminex, ELISA, basic microscopy, etc.)
- Cell line maintenance and propagation; apply hands-on tissue culture experience with a variety of cell lines
- Optimize, troubleshoot, and perform cell-based assays utilizing cell culture and/or human tissue
- Identify and develop new assays as the project requires by performing literature searches, researching manufacturer protocols, and consulting with subject matter experts
- Thoroughly and effectively document experimental procedures and results in a laboratory notebook
- Data analysis, interpretation, and reporting with an emphasis on high-quality data and quick communication of key results
- Using the principles of Good Documentation Practices, design, execute, and report upon scientific studies in support of product development decision making
- Develop and optimize analytical methods to increase throughput, reliability, and efficiency of testing
- May mentor Lab Associates or Interns
Position Qualifications:
- PhD/M.S. preferred in biology, biochemistry, immunology or related field with at least 6 years of relevant industry experience (relevant academic experience considered)
- Prior knowledge and research experience in immunology or oncology preferred
- Ability to effectively design, plan, execute and analyze experiments under general supervision
- Solid skills in molecular and cell biology techniques including but not limited to: cell culture, cell-based assays in multi-well plate formats, flow cytometry, etc.
- Familiarity with analytical testing methodologies (flow cytometry, cell-based assays, ELISA, etc.)
- Experience in assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting is a plus
- Proficiency with basic data analysis programs (Flowjo, GraphPad Prism, ImageJ, etc.) and application of statistics
- Experience with lab notebook documentation
- Demonstrated track record of time management and prioritizing work across multiple projects
- Technical problem-solving and attention to detail
- Works collaboratively in a team environment; comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a cross-functional team dynamic
- Demonstrates strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to communicate ideas, objectives and results
- Proficiency in utilizing MS Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
