Messina Group seeks a QC Technician for our client, a global polymer manufacturing company, in Carpentersville, Illinois.


Note: The position features a 12-Hour Rotating Shift Schedule with Significant Off-Time and Built-in overtime pay. Candidates will rotate between the 6 am-6 pm and 6 pm-6 am shift.

  • 12 – Hour Rotating Shift Schedule with Significant Off-Time – Material Handlers will work rotating 12-hour shifts and will have a significant number of off-days.
  • Overtime-Pay – The work schedule features built-in guaranteed overtime. In addition, there will be opportunity to work additional overtime hours for 1.5x of your base hourly pay rate.
  • Competitive Pay – Pay Rates differ based on your experience and expertise. The base pay starts at $23/hr for entry-level operators. Experienced operators will be given competitive hourly pay rates based on their experience and expertise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety:
    • a.    Zero OSHA Recordable injuries
    • b.    Wear appropriate PPE at all times in the laboratory/plant/retain room.
    • c.    Report any unsafe conditions to the Team Manager or technical Manager immediately.
    • d.    Attend/participate in all shift Safety Trainings and Huddles

  • Maintain housekeeping in lab and retain areas.  Clean up small resin spills immediately.
  • Test in-process, finished product, shipping, and raw material samples and communicate results to appropriate personnel
  • Enter quality data into SAP and log data on QC cards for back-up reference.
  • Communicate any quality results trends to the Unit Lead and the Technical Manager
  • Make and analyze tests blends, compatibility samples, etc. as requested by production personnel and/or Unit Leads.
  • Perform calibration checks of all laboratory equipment as outlined in the Quality Control VCS Program. 
  • Understand function and be able to troubleshoot all laboratory equipment.
  • Promptly alert Team Managers when there are test discrepancies or issues with the material that will impact production or shipments.  Ensure that the re-sampling process has been followed in a timely manner. 
  • Inspect operating areas/equipment for procedure compliance and general housekeeping.
  • Ensure all retains are properly labeled, lids are on tight, and are properly stored.
  • Ensure the sample retain area is clean and current.
  • Complete all Routine Job Tasks.
  • Complete all job-associated paperwork in a timely manner. 
  • Environmental Responsibility:
    • a.    Dispose of all excess/obsolete reagents and sample wastes appropriately.
    • Dispose of all hazardous wastes appropriately.
    • Ensure HAZWASTE containers in the laboratory and Retain Room are properly labeled and maintained.

  • Dependability:
    • Arrive at work 15 minutes early each day to receive turnover/communication from the off-going shift.
    • Make early notification to the Team Manager if you are unable to work your scheduled shift.
