Seeking a Quality Manager for a direct hire opportunity in Chicago, IL. Our client is a groundbreaking biotech company born out of NASA-supported research on extremophiles in geothermal pools. Their novel fermentation technology produces a sustainable source of complete protein using only a fraction of the resources required by traditional agriculture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all aspects of Food Safety and Quality at the Chicago manufacturing site are met
- Lead root cause analysis, complete CAPAs, and effectively implement preventative and corrective actions
- Continue to effectively lead the quality team and culture to identify, develop, and implement quality initiatives while meeting internal KPIs
- Draft, review, and/or edit Food Safety Plan/HACCP, SOPs, work instructions, forms, and/or guidance documents, while overseeing quality control records to comply with regulatory requirements and traceability
- Verify that all products adhere to quality standards by tracking products through the manufacturing processes meeting food safety requirements
- Work collaboratively with Production, Maintenance, Safety, and Engineering to make sure quality standards/requirements are met

Position Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences including Chemistry, Biology, or related technical field
- 8+ years of food safety and quality experience in a leadership role with a track record of success
- PCQI/HACCP Certified
- Proven experience managing and developing, reviewing, and verifying quality programs
- Experience working in a regulated food manufacturing facility is a must
- Solid understanding of GMPs, Food Safety, FSMA, and knowledge of FDA food regulations
- Proficient with G-Suite, Microsoft Suite, and other software platforms (and willingness to learn new platforms)
- Capable of pulling together collaborative teams to investigate non-conformances and troubleshoot production challenges
- Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally
- Must have experience with GFSI audits/inspections
- Strong advocate for food safety and quality in the manufacturing processes
